Matthew 5:43-48
Jesus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the election situation in Iran.
A few weeks ago during mass, the school kids prayed for the conversion of Barack Obama. It's amazing how I could spend so much time talking about his actions instead of praying for his conversion.
I know that I spend a lot more time talking about those who I don't agree with versus praying for them. I know that it's easy for me to pray for the mother who is entering the abortion clinic and forget to pray for the conversion of the doctor who is performing the abortion.
Let us build a Culture of Life through our prayers and our actions, recognizing that God wants all of us to be a part of it ... not just the few who share the same ideals as we do. Let us pray that we can all be a part of defending and upholding the dignity of life through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
Take care and God Bless.
