John 17: 11b-19
Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying: "Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one. When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you. I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the Evil One. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and for those who are living out the marriage vocation that they understand their call to marriage as a sacrament and vocation.
We do not belong to this world...
We belong to God and God alone. We do not belong to the greed that does trust that God will provide. We do not belong to the pride that does not trust that God loves us. We do not belong to any of the lies.
We belong to God and God alone. We are called to greatness because there is none greater than God, and we are His children. We are His bride, for we are ONE CHURCH! We are His hands and feet on this earth. We are His temple. We are His creation. We are nothing without God.
Without God, we wouldn't know how to love. Without God, we wouldn't know mercy. Without God, we wouldn't know forgiveness. Without God, we know nothing, we have nothing and we belong to nothing.
We do not belong to this world, we belong to God.
... but, Jesus sends us out into this world...
Take a moment and think about the people who have opened your heart to God.
Their example and their testimony led you to Christ, but it was your heart that made the choice to be led. There are many out there who need your testimony. There are many out their who need you to evangelize. We are in a war, brothers and sisters, and the stakes are souls that are eternal. If you are not willing to live the Gospel message out, which includes evangelization, then you might as well... wait a minute... let's try this again... I pray for you this day that your life is an effective witness to the goodness of God. Live your life reflecting God's goodness. Ponder that for a few minutes.
Take care and God Bless.
