Luke 6: 12-16
Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for grace in your lives where you need it.
Today in the Church is the Feast of Sts. Simon and Jude.
Simon, whom denied that he knew Jesus after saying he wouldn't ...
James and John, who couldn't stay awake when Jesus was in His agony ...
Bartholomew, who said, "can anything good come out of Nazareth?" ...
Thomas, who wouldn't believe that Jesus was risen unless he could touch the wounds ...
and Judas, who betrayed Jesus.
Looking at the Apostles, it is a good reminder that thankfully, the work we are participating in is the work of God versus the work of man. It is the work of the Lord that we work to accomplish, for through Him alone we can do great things.
Take care and God Bless.
