Matthew 8: 18-22
When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other shore. A scribe approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But Jesus answered him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are battling cancer.
Have you ever left a cup in the sink and said to yourself, "I will wash it tomorrow"? When you get home, you see the cup in the sink, but you're thirsty now, so you reach for another cup. You know where this end up, and actually as I write this, there is a glass on my desk and 4 in the sink.
It sounds a lot like my spiritual life unfortunately.
Deep down inside, I want to be holy to the full capacity that God created me to be able to achieve that, but the words of a famous saint seems to win out every time: "I want to be holy ... just not now."
One of the fears of my heart lately is how unworthy I feel in doing these reflections. Every time I sit down, I am intimidated by the fact that I am not someone who is qualified with a degree in theology or philosophy. I am not someone who has read documents and books that have the deeper meaning of the Gospel message.
These doubts are very real, but I can also testify that His grace is reality far beyond anything I can understand because I am still sending these reflections out through Our Lord's grace.
If we thought about the things God is really calling us to, it's scary enough to want to just "leave you cup in the sink." Cups serve us by helping us quench our thirsts. Through our total and complete yes to Our Lord, we can satisfy Christ's thirst on the cross.
Let us go forth and do it now. Take are and God Bless.
