John 12:24-26

Jesus said to his disciples: "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.

We have all experienced this in one way or another: there is much pain in love.

Yet, somehow, as people created to love, we must give of ourselves. Many people show their love for a certain cause by "giving" of themselves to that cause. A parent will show their love for their children by "giving" them gifts. A husband will "give" himself to his bride as an act of love.

In giving, there is also sacrifice. As a child who went to private school, I know that my parents sacrifice money and time in order that I might receive a private education. I saw that as an act of love. A child must sacrifice time playing X-Box in order to spend time with their parents (although they are probably kicking and screaming the whole way).

We are all made in the image and likeness of God. In that statement, sometimes we forget that Jesus is God. We are made to love as He loved. We are made to give of ourselves and to sacrifice the things that hold us away from perfection in Christ. Sometimes, is seems like the harder it is to love, the greater we are called to love. In this way, we can see the gift of every trial. We must die to those things which hold us away from perfection so that may have life in Christ.

We must never be afraid of death... especially the dying to ourselves in an act of love... an act of obedience... and act of surrender to Him. Take care and God Bless.
