Mt 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father."

Dawg's thought:

A lamp needs fuel to burn...

We all know our calling to evangelize, but how can you evangelize the goodness of the Lord if you're not living in the goodness of the Lord?

"We've got to pray just to make it today."

Prayer is essential to everything that we do. Our fuel begins with prayer. We have nothing without God. We are nothing without God. We can accomplish nothing without God. We must always be mindful of this Truth in everything that we do.

We need prayer to discern His will for us. We need prayer to heal us. We need prayer for every little aspect of our lives. Every aspect of our lives relies on our prayer lives.

"God calls us to be lovers, not saviors."

How can we evangelize the Lord's goodness when we are so concerned with letting people know how good we are? One way we, as salt of the earth, can lose our taste is by exhausting all the resources we have in us.

We are all familiar with the story of Martha and Mary. Martha is working diligently trying to get everything prepared for Jesus. Mary is spending time with Jesus. Who chooses the better between the two? I know many of you, and most of you are more Mary than Martha (a flaw of mine as well).

Doing the work is important (because God has commissioned all of us to evangelize), but we must always remember to take time to recline with Jesus. We must strive for a balance between Mary and Martha if we are going to be effective preachers of the Gospel message.

"We are one body..."

We all need community to support us, and now I am asking for your support. I would love to elaborate more on this, but unfortunately, I have to head off to work. Therefore, if you would like to post your thoughts on community, feel free to post your thoughts on:
