Mark 3:13-19
Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. He appointed Twelve, whom he also named Apostles, that they might be with him and he might send them forth to preach and to have authority to drive out demons: He appointed the Twelve: Simon, whom he named Peter; James, son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, whom he named Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder; Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus; Thaddeus, Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion.
When Jesus called the disciples, did it change who they were as a person? Was Simon Peter no longer a fisherman? Was James and John no longer sons of Zebedee?
The person whom God called is still the same person God made that person to be.
With that in mind, God calls each of us to "realize" the person that He made us to be. In the end, all that will matter is will we be with Him in heaven. All the gifts we have are meant for us to learn to love Our Lord, remain obedient to Our Lord, and ultimately, be with Our Lord. It is remaining obedient to God's call that we truly find out who we really are because, in the end, you are much more than the job you work at, the person you're a descendant of, or the vice you struggle with. In the end, you are a child of God to the core of your being. Take care and God Bless.
