Matthew 7:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are in hospitals, that God grants them hope, and for those who work in hospitals, that they work with compassion and mercy.

Today's reading is a personal introspection for my own life. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing? Maybe it's because all I want to see is the sheep's clothing. Maybe I don't want to see the ravenous wolf that I hide from the world.

The Lord, in His mercy, wants to draw out all that is not of Him. He wants us to be a people who bears good fruit versus a people who are rotten on the inside. I see the wisdom of free will when I think about how our choices reveal the desires of our hearts. Then, with that same free will, we have the choice to turn back to Him or continue the emptiness of disobedience. When we uphold our actions to the actions and words of Our Lord, we can see how far we are from Him, who is all-perfect and all-good. We must be willing to look at our hearts, and all its cracks, and see how broken we are in comparison to The One who bears good fruit.

There are many trees that bear good fruit that bore fruit that was not good. We should never let 1 bad fruit dictate how we continue to grow. When we choose an action that is rotten, we have been given the gift of free will to choose the path of obedience once again. This is the wisdom of Our Lord, who gives us wonderful gifts that help us bear good fruit so that we won't be thrown into the fire. Take care and God Bless.
