Matthew 9:32-38

A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "He drives out demons by the prince of demons."

Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who have been affected by cancer.

One of the most recognized saints of our time, St. Therese of Lisieux, has as one of her titles, "Patroness of Missionaries." She was a cloistered nun who never left the convent, yet her humble and prayerful example has led others to Christ because of the true joy she found in Christ.

As people are encountered Christ in today's reading, they saw something they wanted and the crowds came.

When we look at the example we set forth for the world, do we radiate the infectious joy of Christ to others? When people look at us, do they see Christ?

They should. We share in this harvest, regardless if we are priests, religious, laity... we all share in the responsibility as laborers for the harvest. To share in this work, our prayer life must radiate into our everyday lives for everyone to see. Take care and God Bless.
