Thursday in the First Week of Advent
Matthew 7: 21, 24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for healing for Meling Tigno, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Picture that moment. It's that moment when you know that you are on shaky ground. It could be the amount of time that is spent on Facebook that an employer pays for. It could be the illegal distribution of media that is easily passed on via digitally. It could be an unchaste relationship that is too hard to let go.

I think that my moment is well documented throughout the "Dawg's Thought" archive. For me, it's behind the wheel and I'm disrespected.

"How many times, Lord?"
"Seventy times seven ..."

As I was spending my time meditating on today's reading, I thought about how there is a lot of these "thoughts" that are documented. In once sense, it meant that there was a lot of time that I spend looking and meditating on scripture. Yet, what good is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 3,000 sq. ft. home that is sinking because the foundation is poor? How many times have I listened to the words of Christ yet haven't acted on it? How foolish is that?

The person who acts on the words of Christ in a way participates in the works of Christ. If we fail to act, aren't we then rejecting Christ's invitation to participate in His work, which brought salvation and freedom from our sin. If we are acting in union with Christ, when "the rain and the wind" of the evil one tries to knock us down, won't we be better equipped to respond as Christ did?

Let us build our homes on Christ, then, versus the lures of this world.

Take care and God Bless.
