Jeremiah 7:23-28
Thus says the LORD:
This is what I commanded my people:
Listen to my voice;
then I will be your God and you shall be my people.
Walk in all the ways that I command you,
so that you may prosper.
But they obeyed not, nor did they pay heed.
They walked in the hardness of their evil hearts
and turned their backs, not their faces, to me.
From the day that your fathers left the land of Egypt even to this day,
I have sent you untiringly all my servants the prophets.
Yet they have not obeyed me nor paid heed;
they have stiffened their necks and done worse than their fathers.
When you speak all these words to them,
they will not listen to you either;
when you call to them, they will not answer you.
Say to them:
This is the nation that does not listen
to the voice of the LORD, its God,
or take correction.
Faithfulness has disappeared;
the word itself is banished from their speech.

Hey, I read through the email you forwarded to me regarding the applicant who is interested in applying for the "Your Lord and Your God" position. I have to tell you, I don't think this is a good idea. I know Him, and I have to say that He doesn't love you. You are better off being your own god. I have trained many people to for the position of god, and I have to say that you have all the credentials. You are quite an expert in pride, and that's all you need in order to grow into this position.
You should just turn your back on this guy. After all, it's too hard working for Him, and the world doesn't think much of Him either. In fact, our marketing department has done an incredible job in its efforts to draw as many people away from Him as possible. Just take a look at how many of His own people don't even acknowledge His existence. Of course, they remember Him in times of trouble, so we just make sure that they indulge any pleasure that's their weakness so that they forget about the suffering that calls them back to Him.
I am sure you'll make the right decision.
