Mark 6:7-13

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, "Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them." So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who an end to abortion, and for the life of one child to be saved from an abortion today.

I'm one of those people who have a hard time accepting "charitable works" from others. This can range from a simple compliment to money in appreciation for time. It's hard to accept the love from others at times. A big part of this is because there is a certain pride involved with providing for myself.

I can't imagine what it would have been like to be a disciple when Jesus commissions them in today's reading.

When it comes to our relationship with Our Lord, though, we are called to accept from Him because He is the Giver of all good gifts. Trusting in God's providence is such a hard concept because it requires us to give up control of our own lives in order to surrender to His providence.

For as hard as this seems, it also gives us something our pride can never give us: freedom. Take care and God Bless.
