Mark 3:1-6
Jesus entered the synagogue. There was a man there who had a withered hand. They watched Jesus closely to see if he would cure him on the sabbath so that they might accuse him. He said to the man with the withered hand, "Come up here before us." Then he said to the Pharisees, "Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?" But they remained silent. Looking around at them with anger and grieved at their hardness of heart, Jesus said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him to put him to death.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are unemployed.
Living here in Arizona, there's a lot of buzz around the Arizona Cardinals, a team that will always be associated with Pat Tillman. He gave up the comfortable life, making millions in the NFL, to serve his country with full knowledge that he may lose his life for it.
For those who know the story of Pat Tillman, they will tell you he's a hero.
The thought of Christ knowing the hearts of the Pharisees and how His healing of the man with the withered hand would push them over the edge is heroic. Christ's sacrifice is for me the archetype of what it means to be a hero. He knew He would die and the He would have to offer Himself as a sacrifice, and He did it anyway.
Lord, please help me get past all my fears
so that i may love as You have loved despite your fears.
Take care and God Bless.
