Luke 6: 12-16
Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.
When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for the repose of the souls of those you wish to pray for at this time.
NOTE: Traditionally, during the month of November, I ask that you please send me the names of those souls you know and love who have passed away. They will be the prayer intentions for the month of November. So please send me the names of those whom you want prayers for who have passed from this life. Thank you!

God Himself is a communion of persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
When I started looking up the Saints we commemorate today, Simon and Jude, I found out that they were martyred at the same time. In their death, they are linked together, dying as Saints.
Jesus is the second Person in the Most Holy Trinity. Jesus called twelve Apostles to Himself. We are made for communion with God and we need each other as community.
I once heard a talk from a seminarian a while ago that "saints run in packs." I knew this seminarian, and I knew that many of the friends that he called his close friends entered the seminary as well. Many of them are priests today.
It's tempting to think that we can grow holy alone. It's tempting to think that all we need is the scriptures or the sacraments or devotions. It's tempting to want to live a holy life by simply reading about how others have lived holy lives.
All of those things are good, but in a way, it negates the fact that today, we walk alongside brothers and sisters who are made in the image and likeness of God. All around us, we have people who are yearning to respond to the call of Christ, just as the Twelve did ... just as Sts. Simon and Jude did.
May we come to know communion with Our Lord as we work together in responding to His call. Take care and God Bless.
