Matthew 7:7-12

Jesus said to his disciples: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asked for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.

"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the French students being held hostage and for their families.

As we mature in our faith, hopefully our prayer intentions will mature as well. God, the giver of all good gifts, wants to give us the things that will eternally be good for us versus addressing our immediate desires.

Last night in my own prayers, I was wondering why am I going through my own "desert" right now. In turn, His response to my heart was that all the gifts He gives to us has an eternal end versus an immediate one. I was humbled and I realized that it was my own faith that needed to increase, not the struggles I'm enduring now to decrease.

Today's reading reminds us that God wants to give us only the best. In your own prayer life, discern what that is so that your prayer life may continue to mature, and in turn so will your faith. Receive His grace today with gratitude and humility. Take care and God Bless.
