Thursday in the Second Week of Advent
Matthew 11: 11-15

Jesus said to the crowds: "Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force. All the prophets and the law prophesied up to the time of John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, the one who is to come. Whoever has ears ought to hear."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are mourning the loss of a loved one as Christmas approaches.

Jesus is here. The one the prophets of God pointed to, of whom John the Baptist is the greatest among them.

When I think of the words of John the Baptist, two come to mind:
* Behold, the Lamb of God.
* I must decrease, so that He can increase.

Through our baptism, we are prophets as well, and as such, we are the heralds for Christ as well. We are the ones who now are called to be "willing to accept this." WE are the ones who participate in the prayers of priest during the Holy Mass: "Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world." WE are the ones who must remind the world that in order for Christ to increase in this world, we must die to ourselves, or "decrease".

Let us be hearers of the Word so that we can be heralds of it as well. Take care and God Bless.
