Mark 10: 28-31
Peter began to say to Jesus, "We have given up everything and followed you." Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - in thanksgiving for the release of "Baby Joseph" to his parents.
In the admin tool that I send these readings out through, there's a prayer on the top of the page that reminds me that "Christ poured Himself out for us." I keep it at the top of the page to remind me that seeing that we are made in His image, we are called to do the same.
Thankfully, Christ reminds us that there is nothing that we give up that we will not receive back even greater.
I do not know what He is calling you to give up today. It may be something as little as wanting to get revenge on someone who cuts you off on the road. It may be something as difficult as watching your own child die, as is the case with the parents of Baby Joseph. Whatever it is, remember to do it for Christ, Who poured Himself out for you, and for the sake of the Gospel.
Lord, help us to be generous in giving when You call us to sacrifice.
If someone challenges me today to be charitable,
may my love and forgiveness be overflowing.
If I am challenged to give up something I am attached to,
help me remember that i am placing it in Your hands
that multiplied the loaves and fishes
and that transforms mere bread into Your Flesh.
Lord, You lived a life of sacrifice, and so i turn to you and pray,
"grant me the grace to desire it."
Take care and God Bless.
