Matthew 7: 15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who care for the poor, the lonely and the outcast.

Does your life point to Christ or does it point to yourself?

I began typing today's reflection comparing bananas to coconuts, but as I read through today's reading again, I realized that I was missing the point. Am I a prophet that points to Christ? Does my life bear the fruit of life or the fruit of lies? That is the greater question.

Let me ask you the question: does your life point to Christ? Do you want people to look at you or do you want people to look at Christ? Do you want people to see how good you are or do you want people to know how good God is? Are you ashamed of the Gospel because of how it will make you look?

Brothers and sisters, does your life point to Christ? Are you a false prophet or are you crying out in the desert, "The glory of God is here!" Yesterday was the solemnity of the birth of John the Baptist. I heard an interesting homily yesterday regarding the fact that the yesterday's homily comes on the day when there is more light and it slowly grows into days with less light. On the contrary, Christmas (The Birth of Jesus) comes on a day with the least light and then it grows from there. Are you willing to decrease so that God can increase? Take care and God Bless.
