Luke 12: 35-38
Jesus said to his disciples: "Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention - for the dignity of marriage to be restored between one man and one woman.
Have you ever been to a wedding reception before the bride and groom arrive? There is a joy for the couple that evokes a joy in you.
We are waiting in joy like servants awaiting their master's return from a wedding. As it is said in the "embolism" after the Our Father is offered at Mass, "as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ."
It's a good reminder to hear that prayer during the Liturgy after getting lost in the "anxiety" of days. In reacting to the anxiety, it is easy to be drawn away from being vigilant. Walking around without a lamp can get exhausting.
So, as we continue onward toward heaven, let us rely with our full hearts on the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, so that we do not grow weary. Let us also remember in our days the prayer that we hear after the Our Father is offered ...
"Deliver us, Lord, from every evil,
and grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us free from sin
and protect us from all anxiety
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ."
Take care and God Bless.
