Luke 8:16-18
Jesus said to the crowd: "No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for Linda Zerangue, who begins chemotherapy tomorrow.
As many of you know, I enjoy playing the guitar. One thing I have a hard time with is when people buy guitars and then they keep them in a case because the guitar is rare or because it was built by a "master" guitar maker. I'm sure the master guitar maker who made the guitar thought to himself, "I hope that the person who I made this guitar for can play the guitar and enjoy all the attention that I put into making this guitar match for him." I'm pretty sure he didn't say, "I hope that this guitar never gets played so that in 50 years it's value will be so astronomical that the buyer will be able to retire." The purpose of the guitar is to make music.
Faith was never meant to be placed in a glass case as well. People who say that they don't need to be active with their faith are missing the boat! God has given us an instrument with which to grow closer to Him through and so that His light, shining through us, can bring others to desire to be faithful as well.
Let's strive not be collectors. Let's strive to use the gifts that God has given us to spread the Good News! Take care and God Bless.
