Thursday in the Fifth Week of Easter |
John 15: 9-11
Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
"I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for healing for those who are sick at this time.
Have you ever tried to do something new? A year and a half ago, I started riding my bike more because the gas prices were getting high and in order to drop a few pounds.
The first few times took a lot of effort, but I wanted to keep on doing it. The more I did it, the more it became something I wanted to do. I started to incorporate it into my life more and more and it has brought me a lot of joy.
It's what I want with the ways of God. I want to live a life that relies on God's ways so that it becomes so much a part of me that doing the opposite is what feels uncomfortable.
It reminds me of quote that I heard in a talk recently:
Sow a thought and you reap and action;
Sow an act and you reap a habit;
Sow a habit and you reap a character;
Sow a character and you reap a destiny.
Hopefully, my walk with God moves past "Dawg's thoughts" and turns into "Dawg's action ... Dawg's habit ... Dawg's character ... "
... and hopefully, there will be the destiny of having my "complete" joy in Christ in how I live here in this earth, and "complete" joy in Christ one day in Heaven.
Take care and God Bless.
