Cinco de Mayo 2004 |
John 12:44-50
Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day, because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father told me."

Today's prayer intention is for those who are unemployed.
Can you think of anything that Jesus said or did that was not done out of love? Every word and act of Jesus points to The Father's love and mercy for each of us.
In every act and deed, we must be imitators of this love that does not condemn, but rather shows mercy. Here are the acts of mercy:
Spiritual Acts of Mercy:
To admonish the sinner
To instruct the ignorant
To counsel the doubtful
To comfort the sorrowful
To bear wrongs patiently
To forgive all injuries
To pray for the living and the dead
Corporal Acts of Mercy:
To feed the hungry
To give drink to the thirsty
To clothe the naked
To visit the imprisoned
To shelter the homeless
To visit the sick
To bury the dead
Each act is an act of liberation from our own fears that frees us to love and serve Our Lord. Let us embrace these acts of mercy so that the work of Our Father may be continued through us, The Body of Christ. Take care and God Bless.
