Colossians 2:6-15
Brothers and sisters: As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, rooted in him and built upon him and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to the tradition of men, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ.
For in him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily, and you share in this fullness in him, who is the head of every principality and power. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not administered by hand, by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ. You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. And even when you were dead in transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he brought you to life along with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions; obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross; despoiling the principalities and the powers, he made a public spectacle of them, leading them away in triumph by it.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.
God Doesn't Want You to Fail
We all doubt God's plan for each of our lives; it's human nature. How can we put full trust in God when we cannot even trust ourselves? How can we put our full trust in God when we do not understand the will of God? How can we put our full trust in God when we go through so much suffering and we see how much suffering there is in our lives.
So, in our doubt, we slip into the "empty, seductive philosophy" that draws us away from God. We doubt God's love for us in our lives because we cannot understand why things are the way they are. We think to ourselves, "a merciful God would have not have allowed this to happen!"
There is no concrete answer to why people suffer. The only answer we have is our faith. I often talk to people who ask me about understanding their suffering, and the only answer I have for them is that God places the importance on faith versus the the ability to understand. In the fullness of time, the gift of faith is greater than knowledge of suffering.
Today's reading reminds us that regardless of how far we fall, Christ is Our Savior. God did not breathe life into us to fail. We choose to fail because we doubt. Jesus came into this world so that we will come to know the fullness God's love and mercy for us. Jesus came into this world so that we may know that there is nothing too great that Christ cannot conquer. We know this; there is no reason to doubt. Take care and God Bless.
