Matthew 23: 13-22
Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You lock the Kingdom of heaven before men. You do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You traverse sea and land to make one convert, and when that happens you make him a child of Gehenna twice as much as yourselves.
"Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'If one swears by the temple, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gold of the temple, one is obligated.' Blind fools, which is greater, the gold, or the temple that made the gold sacred? And you say, 'If one swears by the altar, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gift on the altar, one is obligated.' You blind ones, which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? One who swears by the altar swears by it and all that is upon it; one who swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it; one who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who is seated on it."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who have had abortions, that they seek God's forgiveness in their grieving.
Demand Only the Best.
Today's reading challenges us on two levels: we must grow in obedience to God's will and we must challenge others to live in greater obedience to God's will.
There are many out there today that subscribe to the "feel-good" Christianity points of view. It only makes sense now that we live in a society that is all about relativism, where right and wrong only depend on what you feel is right and wrong. We have become too tolerant of this attitude and we must go forth and challenge those who preach the Gospel to be faithful and true to the words of the Gospel. There are many out there who are leading souls to hell because they want to be accepted versus challenging their fellow brothers and sisters with the life-changing words of The Gospel. Are we leading children to Gehenna ourselves with our fear?
If your pastor is not challenging you everyday with the Truth of The Gospel, you must demand better. You must challenge them so that they do not go to hell themselves. You must not let fear get in the way of the salvation of souls for we are losing many to the lures of Satan. There are many who have been put into positions of leadership who have fallen for Satan's lies. We must demand better. We must take action now for there are souls at stake.
May God be with you all. Take care and God Bless.
