Thursday in the Third Week of Lent |
Luke 11: 14-23
Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute, and when the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke and the crowds were amazed. Some of them said, "By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he drives out demons." Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven. But he knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste and house will fall against house. And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons. If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own people drive them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe. But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him, he takes away the armor on which he relied and distributes the spoils. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are may be considering aborting their child, that they may know and trust in God's providence.
I listen to sports talk radio during my day and it seems that a great part of the news has nothing to do with the games. Rather, it has to do with what athlete would choose which team. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to choosing a team: money, who they would play with, how is the management, etc.
It reminds me of when I had to choose a college to go to. In the end, what I chose is what I thought would work best for me. Being 17 years old, I didn't think long term. The college I chose would get me into the workforce quicker and a lot of my friends were going to a school close by.
I made my decision for which school I would go to from what I thought I wanted.
When I committed to the college I wanted to go to, I had to take the classes and do well in them. Simply making the choice to go to a school didn't mean that I was going to graduate and start a career. Instead, I had to study and work on my projects. I had to start thinking about the end result as graduation drew closer, which meant that my portfolio had to have pieces that would attract potential employers.
I hope that you want to be on the same team as Our Lord Jesus Christ. In the reading today, He invites us. As we accept His invitation, and as we move closer to the day when we will be before Our Lord, are we doing well in our classes?
Lent is a great season. If all I heard was good things in my classes I wouldn't have grown to be a better designer. It was through hearing that my work could be better that I was open to see how I could be better. Are we looking at this season as a way that we can see how we can improve? Are we looking at this season as a way that we can see how God is giving us what we need to improve?
Let us rejoice in knowing that what we have today, whether struggles or blessings, are a part of how God invites us to be one with Him. Take care and God Bless.
