Matthew 10:34-11:1
Jesus said to his Apostles: "Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household.
"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous will receive a righteous man's reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple - amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward."
When Jesus finished giving these commands to his Twelve disciples, he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for Parker and Julie Davis who were married this past Friday.
First of all, let me apologize for the past few days. The Web site went down last week, and when it was up I was in Chicago. Thanks for understanding.
In the beginning, there was "original man" who experienced "original solitude". Recognizing that it was not good for "original man" to be alone, God gave "original man" a partner. From there we know the story of "original sin" and how sin entered the world. In essence, the message of Satan to woman was "God doesn't love you."
I know what it is like to be Adam, who in the face of a lie, stood back and failed to act. I know what it is like to fall for the false promise because it looked too attractive. I know what it is like to let pride dictate my choices in how I follow God's plan and how I push its limits. I know what it is like to feed my pride and fully accept a lie I know is a lie because I put my own needs or the needs of others before God's loving commands.
I know how to deny charity because of Satan's lie to Eve. I also know that God is forgiving and I'm reminded of that whenever I look at the crucifix. I know this when I look upon The Man who took up His cross Who calls us to follow Him. Take care and God Bless.
