Luke 11: 1-4

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say:

Father, hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,
and do not subject us to the final test."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for my mother, who celebrated her birthday on October 5th.

Outside my window is a raging storm. As I sit here typing, the thought that I am a child of this powerful God is humbling. Looking at the images of this storm online, this God, Who uproots trees and makes a multitude of golf-ball-sized hail fall from the sky, is my Father, and desires that I call Him that.

Thankfully, as His children, we may not have been given the gift to uproot trees. Instead, we have been given the gift of calling Our Father in Heaven by His holy name. We have been given the invitation to be a part of His Kingdom. We have been given the gift of His providence in making sure that we receive all the nourishment we need.

We are children of God Who can block the light of the sun with the clouds. We are children of a God who desires that we are cleansed of sins, and Who desires us to forgive others for our own good. We are children of a God Who not only hears our pleas, but shows us how we can trust in Him, as children, through giving us the wonderful prayer in the Our Father.

The downpour outside has calmed to a drizzle, yet I hear the thunder in the distance. Let us rejoice that such a powerful God desires that we call Him Father, reminding us that we are His children. Take care and God Bless.
