Matthew 8:18-22
When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other shore. A scribe approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But Jesus answered him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the safety of those whose who will be traveling to World Youth Day in Australia.
In my life, there have been things I had to give up for my own good. While it may not have been a place to rest my head (although, there were those times as well), sometimes it means giving up driving so much so that I can make sure I'm tithing as I should. Maybe it means sacrificing some time in order that others know Christ's love.
The more I surrender my life, the more I realize that there is so much in my life that I am holding on to. There are conceptions about who I am and expectations of others that I hold onto that hold me back from being a true Christian.
If we look around, we can find reasons to hold onto the things that delay us from giving our lives over to Christ. Today is the day and the moment is now to follow Christ's call. It is He Who calls you at this moment: "Follow Me."
Take care and God Bless.
