Mark 1:7-11
This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of my Auntie Rose, who passed away today, and for comfort for those who love her.
John the Baptist proclaims his place before Christ. God The Father affirms Christ through His voice. It is the vision of heaven: everyone praising The Lamb!
All the arrows in today's reading point to Christ, just like all of creation. We are blessed to see a glimpse of heaven in today's reading, and we are blessed to know a merciful God Who has opened the gates of heaven to us through The Lamb!
It is comforting to know that God has opened the gates of heaven for ourselves and our loved ones that as long as we are willing to be humble ourselves and "do like they do up in heaven". Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. Take care and God Bless.
