John 6: 30-35
The crowd said to Jesus: "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"
So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
So they said to Jesus, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are preparing to be ordained.
My body is good at telling me when it is hungry. It is amazing how God made us.
When I am hungry, I am grateful to be able to act on that impulse.
Yet, how often are we grateful for the hunger pain? We are so quick to want to solve the hunger pain and we often make choices that we may regret later (this morning I went through a drive thru to get a burrito).
Praise God that we have the ache of our souls! Praise Him that we have the "hunger pains" that remind us that we need the Bread of Life.
I love eating various foods, and sometimes the idea of eating something that tastes good outweighs the basic fact that we eating because we are hungry. We are eating because we need to be fed otherwise we will not be healthy.
In the same way, do we do the same with Jesus Who is the "Bread of Life"? Do we seek Him to be a "juicy steak" instead of the "Bread of Life"? In other words, do we look to God to satisfy our desires and cravings, or do we look to Him and humbly accept His will? Are we willing to accept Jesus as Savior versus desiring that Jesus is enabler?
Jesus, in our suffering,
we know the longing we have for You.
In that suffering, let us turn to You in humility,
asking that the Father's will be done,
versus seeking that our will be done.
Provide for us according to our need as You know it,
for You alone are the Lord.
In this, I rejoice in You and through You. Amen.
Take care and God Bless.
