Psalm 139: 7-12
Where can I hide from your spirit?
From your presence, where can I flee?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I lie down in Sheol, you are there too.
If I fly with the wings of dawn and alight beyond the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely darkness shall hide me,
and night shall be my light" -
Darkness is not dark for you,
and night shines as the day.
Darkness and light are but one.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the souls of those who will die this day.
This is one of those psalms that not only points to the greatness of God, but also how intimate God is in our daily lives. Our God is a God who doesn't merely want to be Creator and Judge over us. Our God is a God who wants you to know how much you are loved.
God is the lover that desires to be with His beloved. There are times when we run from our beloved. This act of "hiding" from God can be seen from the time of Original Sin, when Adam and Eve hides from God because of their disobedience. We make the choice not to love God. We make the choice to sin and hide from God. Today's psalm reminds us that God does not want to leave us. God is willing to forgive all offenses. God is willing to take His lover back. God wants you to know this that you are loved. Your beloved is calling you. Take care and God Bless.
