John 15:12-17
Jesus said to his disciples: "This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for a greater respect for life from conception to natural death.
Last night I was reading an letter Fr. Pavone wrote to Michael Schiavo, husband of the late Terri Schiavo. I heard him speak a few months ago on what truly happened in the room during the 2 weeks Terri starved to death. It was shocking and it truly was inhumane.
Today's reading is a powerful one. "Love one another as I have loved you." As I read the letter Fr. Pavone wrote, I was struck by the last line:
"In the name of millions around the world, I call on you today to embrace a life of repentance, and to ask forgiveness from the Lord, who holds the lives of each of us in His hands."
What does love look like? It looks like Christ Who gave His life for us not to condemn us, but so that we can call Him "friend." In His Most Holy Name, take care and God Bless.
