Hosea 14:2-10

Let him who is wise understand these things;
let him who is prudent know them.
Straight are the paths of the LORD,
in them the just walk,
but sinners stumble in them.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the safety for those who are traveling.

The first reading for today is from Hosea 2 through 10, but upon reading through the reading, I was stuck on 10.

It's amazing how hard it is to follow the straight path to God. In fact, you can say that when it comes to staying on the path, I get a little "tipsy." Which seems odd, because you'd think that a straight path would be easy to follow.

We have great tickets to see game seven of the World Series (well, actually better). The path from the time we get the tickets until the time we arrive at our seats may seem pretty set, but there are many variables involved. We already have our tickets, but there's the temptation to scalp the ticket for the sake of treasure. On the way to the game, the roads could be full of cars and we may have to take a side street in order to get to the stadium. Then, we have to pay for parking. On our way to the seats, there are so many things distractions that its never a straight path. We're distracted by vendors, restrooms, and even the opposite sex.

To make a long reflection longer by adding a reason why the whole though process was written above, whenever I thought of our path to heaven, I always thought about a path in the forest with different paths. Now, after contemplating it for a while, our path to Heaven has way too much noise and distractions between the time we receive our ticket and the time we arrive at our seats. In fact, the closer we get to our seats, the louder the noise and distractions get. If our main focus is to get to the game, though, we must never let our "stumbling" get in the way of our true goal: heaven. The destination will be there, and we have our ticket: Jesus Christ. There is no other way to get into the game. Take care and God Bless.
