Romans 1: 16-25

Brothers and sisters: I am not ashamed of the Gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek. For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, "The one who is righteous by faith will live."

The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes.

Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the safe return of missing children.

In today's reading, we see how sin is something that is extremely accessible and attainable. Anybody who wants to sin is free to sin. All they have to do is fail to acknowledge God in their lives and worship anything else (or anyone else) except for the One who is worthy of praise.

This is so wrong.

God will never take free will away from us, so when we choose anything else besides God, He will let us have that choice. We choose to be disobedient. The acknowledgment of God can only come through God, and therefore grace can only come through God. The only way we can choose not to sin is to choose to be obedient to God alone. The desire to be a "good citizen" will not lead us away from sin. The desire to appear "good" in the eyes of the world will not lead us away from sin. Rather, the only way we can overcome our sinfulness is through the desire to please God and to be obedient to God. Any other desire will lead us to sin, and because the nature of sin is that it is never satisfied, we will never be content with where our lives are at. Therefore, sin only leads to more sin.

The hope in today's reading is the simplicity in desiring a life of holiness through obedience. We must not be ashamed of following the Gospel and proclaiming the Gospel to this world, for if we are ashamed of The Gospel, we are ashamed of the truth. It is a very bad choice to choose the lie over the truth. May God bless your steps with obedience and the desire to love and know Him more. Take care and God Bless.
