Exodus 14: 15-18

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. And you, lift up your staff and, with hand outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two, that the children of Israel may pass through it on dry land. But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and charioteers. The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I receive glory through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for obedience.

Just before this, Pharaoh, realizing that he just let the Israelites go free, sent his whole army out against them. The Israelites, seeing the army coming after them, cried out in anguish, "Why have you led us here? To die in the desert? We were better off being servants of the Egyptians!" Therefore, the Moses encourages the people to continue having faith in the Lord, and the Lord in turn offers His response.

Sometimes I feel like the Israelites. "God, why have you led me here?" "God, is this the price of obedience?" "God, this sucks." Within those statements, we hear, "God, I don't trust you."

So, in His great wisdom, He responds, "Why are you crying out to me? Go forward! Know that I am the Lord!" In times we don't feel like being obedient, God calls us to a greater sense of obedience. Through this obedience, God calls us to a greater way to love. It is always easier to love when you know the answers on how everything is going to turn out. It is easier to love when you know that you have control over the situation. It is easier to love when you know that everything will work out your way.

Unfortunately, how can that be love?

The thing is, all those answers still point to trusting in the Lord. The ultimate way to love is to have full confidence in the Lord. If you do not have full confidence in the Lord, there is no way that you will be able to love. If you trust that all things are good and from the Lord, including our toughest trials, then you have basically answered the questions in making loving easier. In a sense, you have eliminated all the "qualifiers" that I have stated earlier in making love easier. We know how things are going to turn out: we will be with Our Lord if we remain obedient and continue to persevere in faith. We don't need to have control of the situation because God is in full control if we are willing to submit our will over to the will of God. We will forget about things working out our way because, in the long run, it will work out God's way.

"Why are you crying out to me? Go forward! Know that I am the Lord."

Take care, remain obedient and God Bless.
