Luke 14:12-14
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees. He said to the host who invited him, "When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those whom you loved who have passed away.
Each person created has been created with a unique dignity found in every human person. It's a tragedy that we all see with tainted eyes: eyes that look upon others for what we can gain from them as objects for our own use.
As Christ calls us to love those who cannot possibly give back to us, He challenges each of us to love as He loves. What can we possibly give back to God? Our praise adds nothing to His greatness. Our prayers adds nothing to His perfection. Our obedience adds nothing His sacrifice.
It is humbling to realize that we can give nothing to a God what gives us everything and more. It is even more humbling to love others without desiring anything from them. The kingdom of heaven is for those who are daring enough to be humble. Take care and God Bless.
