Matthew 25:1-13
Jesus told his disciples this parable: "The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise ones replied, 'No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.' While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!' But he said in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.' Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for safe travels for those who are traveling.
It never fails. Last night, around 4:00 am, I used the bathroom and somehow collapsed and stumbled back to bed.
With this little fainting spell, I thought about calling a doctor and then I thought, "Oh, I cancelled my health insurance because I'm going to be getting it through work starting September 1st." Brilliant! At least I have a friend who's a doctor who was able to squeeze me into his schedule today to make sure I didn't have a stroke or a seizure.
Spiritually, it's another story. This past week I started to get a little relaxed in my prayer life and, wouldn't you know it, I'm having problems dealing with problems throughout the week!
If our prayer lives are not in order, we don't have the necessary "means" needed for our journey to heaven. If we are continuing to grow in our prayer lives, our devotions, our tithes, etc., we also work at purifying our soul to receive the grace grace need for our lights to continue to burn and reflect God's love and mercy to this world.
Today, brothers and sisters, let us make sure we have enough oil for the trials of this day. Take care and God Bless.
