Mark 5: 35-36
While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official's house arrived and said, "Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?" Disregarding the message that was reported, Jesus said to the synagogue official, "Do not be afraid; just have faith."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is in thanksgiving for blessings.
The full Gospel reading for today is Mark 5: 21-43. Throughout the full reading, the official's twelve year old daughter is raised from the dead and a woman was healed just by touching Jesus' cloak. Throughout this story, you see different people who exemplify "Do not be afraid; just have faith."
You also see others who may not know God's plan speak.
--
"Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?"
"You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, Who touched me?"
... And they ridiculed him.
--
What we know is that God wants to be with us and He wants to free us. He died so that we may be free from the slavery of sin. He died so that we may have life. This is nothing new to the average Christian.
Humility helps us become "above average" Christians. The woman who reached out for Our Lord's cloak reached out for His cloak because of faith. The official called out to Jesus because of his faith. Both are humble acts: they know Who God is and through faith they allow Him to change and heal their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
Pray for the strength to be humble and meek, remembering Christ's words to us today in the Gospel reading: "Do not be afraid; just have faith." Take care and God Bless.
