Matthew 7: 6, 12-14
Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for containment of the fires in Arizona.
Considering that this is called "Dawg's thoughts" I wonder about today's reading ...
Look at what Our Lord has entrusted to me and you! He has entrusted us with His Sacred Word. He has entrusted us with His Body and His Blood. He has entrusted us with the forgiveness of our sins.
What does that say about our dignity in His eyes?
Is any wonder, then, why we should treat our neighbor with dignity? Is it any wonder why we need to defend life from conception until natural death? Is it any wonder why we need to pray for our enemies?
Those who smell like urine and ask you for change are not a dogs. Those who demean you and commit evil against you are not swine. "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you ... "
You are not a dog, no matter how others may treat you. You are not a swine, no matter how much your may feel tempted to think negatively about yourself. You have been entrusted Our Lord, Jesus Christ. You have been entrusted with God Himself.
Let us rejoice and be glad!
Take care and God Bless.
