Luke 19:1-10
At that time Jesus came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house." And he came down quickly and received him with joy. When they saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner." But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of Fr. Abraham Joseph.
"He came down quickly and received him with joy ..."
This past weekend was the wedding of a friend of mine. It was a great celebration, and the priest did an amazing job talking about marriage as a sacrament, and in particular how Jesus loves His bride, the Church.
Usually at weddings, you have a lot of different people. Some have never even set foot in a church. Others come once in a while. Still some try to make it every Sunday, at least.
Today, a friend of mine came up to me and told me that her husband doesn't believe in God or religion, but after this past weekend, he would be willing to listen.
We are all searching, and most of the time, I feel like I'm still searching. Thankfully, we have the witness of those who have heard the Word of God and acted upon it.
Which remind me that I'm called to be a witness as well, which means that I have to truly live out what it means to "hear the Word of God and act on it." I know I have a long way to go, but Christ came for the lost.
And so, Lord, I come before You bringing my stone jar filled to the top. I bring to you my brokenness ... my suffering ... my emptiness. Transform in into wine so that others may find joy in You, Lord.
Take care and God Bless.
