Mark 9:38-40
John said to Jesus, "Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us." Jesus replied, "Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for Therese Zerangue, for comfort, strength, and for her exams to turn up negative for malignancy.
"Jesus warns against jealousy and intolerance toward others, such as exorcists who do not follow us. The saying in Mark 9:40 is a broad principle of the divine tolerance. Even the smallest courtesies shown to those who teach in Jesus' name do not go unrewarded." - New American Bible Commentary
Every person is made in the image and likeness of God. It's sometimes hard to forget that, especially when we may have some difference some of our brothers and sisters.
I know that in my own life, it's hard to remember that we are all made in His image and that we are all struggling. I think it's especially hard seeing someone who is blessed in certain areas or who doesn't have to deal with the same things I'm dealing with.
All those moments can help me grow in charity. All those moments are opportunities to for me to grow closer to God. All those moments are opportunities for me to recognize that if God can work in their lives, He can work in mine as well. Take care and God Bless.
