Tuesday in the Seventh Week of Easter
John 17: 1-11a

Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him. Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do. Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began.

"I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them. And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to Planned Parenthood.

We have all had times when it seems like nothing is going "right" in our lives. The weight of the cross is tiring out your will; the path of the cross keeps ascending uphill.

If all I saw was what was in front of me, I would surely be driven to despair, for where would my hope lie? In this world where people seem to be more driven by personal accomplishments and the desire for respect / admiration? In this world where consumption far outweighs responsibility? In future generations to fulfill the dreams you were too afraid to pursue yourself?

Yet, we know that Christ accomplished the work of The Father, from His death to the resurrection to His ascension. What accomplishment can we possibly achieve that can be greater than that? What latest gadget or collectable item would add to experience of the beatific vision? Christ accomplished the work of The Father, and there we find our glory.

Christ is glorified in us! He is not glorified in what we own or by how many people admire us. He is glorified in you through the gift of faith. All we can do is to continue His glorification through our lives. Lives that unite our suffering to Christ's passion on the cross. Lives that give glory to God in times of blessings.

Christ prayer for us continues 2,000 years later as we read today's Gospel reading. May our daily sacrifices and offerings continue to give glory to God through His prayer for each of us. Take care and God Bless.
