Wednesday in the Fourth Week of Advent
Luke 1: 46-56

Mary said:

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever."

Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned to her home.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the continued recovery of Len Campbell and Elizabeth Bourne.

Right now ...

My soul proclaims the abundance of things before me leading up to Christmas.
My spirit is anxious and not resting in God my Savior.
I just wish that He'd look upon His lowly servant.

... and yet, in this moment, He is. Through the words of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we know where our souls should be turned toward.

It's easy to get lost in this season. The drivers on the road seem to drive a few MPH faster (and change lanes a few feet closer). The people in the stores seem a lot more oblivious. The packages in the mail seem to be arriving later than you want. (That was all in the past hour for me ... )

With everything going on, it's hard to remember that to the mighty and the proud, God shows His strength. To the poor, He shows His mercy. Personally, I want to receive His mercy, so that I may proclaim, along with the Blessed Virgin Mary ...

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant."

Take care and God Bless.
