Matthew 24:42-51
Jesus said to his disciples: "Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for God's blessing on our troops oversees.
Our human nature is the attitude of "how much can I get away with?" I see this in myself when it comes to pushing the limits of speed, the limits of tolerance from family and friends, and the limits of God Himself. (Thou shall not put the Lord, Thy God, to the test, Theo). Our attitude of "how much can I get away with" somehow doesn't seem to fall in line with what Jesus is saying in today's reading. Instead, Jesus calls us to be "faithful and prudent" to Him in all that He gives to us. The wicked are the ones who pushes the limits in order to see "how much I can get away with." This is not how we are called to love. We are called to love without condition, without pushing the limits, and without putting God to the test. We must practice this with one another as well, for we are called to love one another by Christ, and in being obedient to Christ's commands, we love Our Lord, Who is deserving of all praise and thanksgiving. Give thanks to The Lord for He is good; His love endures forever. Take care and God Bless.
