Luke 19:41-44
As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace - but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for a friend of mine who is having heart surgery today.

1864: "Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven." There are no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss.

"The lament for Jerusalem is found only in Luke. By not accepting Jesus (the one who mediates peace), Jerusalem will not find peace but will become the victim of devastation." - New American Bible commentary on today's reading
Reading through today's reading, the commentary and the quote from the Catechism, I cannot help but think that it would be a great tragedy in our own life to reject the forgiveness of Our Lord.
Unfortunately, though, I look at my life and my attitude toward the sacrament of reconciliation, and I find that even knowing these things, I still have a hard time receive His mercy. After all, looking at your sins and facing your sins is a hard thing to do. Those in Jerusalem did not want to see the Truth in front of them in Christ, and we fall under the same fears. We don't want to look at how we are broken because it's too painful.
Yet, we will find no peace unless we find our peace in Christ. Without Christ, we become the victim of our own devastation. Will Christ weep for you on that day? Take care and God Bless.
