Hebrews 13:1-8

Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment, and of the ill-treated as of yourselves, for you also are in the body. Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers. Let your life be free from love of money but be content with what you have, for he has said, I will never forsake you or abandon you. Thus we may say with confidence:

The Lord is my helper,
and I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for two couples I know who are pregnant, for safety during their pregnancy.

We know 1 Corinthians 13 very well... "Love is patient, love is kind..." It's a staple reading at weddings and something that all Christians have heard because of its real example of how love is lived out.

Today reading is another one of those "gems" about love hidden within the letters of St. Paul. This "gem", like 1 Corinthians 13, challenges us to a greater understanding of what love is.

Today we have four points to ponder in our concepts of what love is and how love is lived out:

1. Love goes beyond ourselves and beyond our comfort zone, recognizing the struggle of our fellow brothers and sisters as our own. Christ calls us all to be His Body, to share in His Body, and to unified through His Body.

2. Love is a commitment, and every commitment must be truly lived out in each of our lives.

3. Love trusts in God alone, recognizing that God will provide what is needed in every situation at every point of our lives.

4. Love should remain constant, just as Our Lord is constant in His love.

Of course, today's reading could be broken down into greater depth, and if you would like to share any comments on today's reading, I would love to hear from you. Take care and God Bless.
