Isaiah 1:10, 16-20
Hear the word of the LORD,
princes of Sodom!
Listen to the instruction of our God,
people of Gomorrah!
Wash yourselves clean!
Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes;
cease doing evil; learn to do good.
Make justice your aim: redress the wronged,
hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.
Come now, let us set things right,
says the LORD:
Though your sins be like scarlet,
they may become white as snow;
Though they be crimson red,
they may become white as wool.
If you are willing, and obey,
you shall eat the good things of the land;
But if you refuse and resist,
the sword shall consume you:
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
We are surrounded by opportunities to do good, and we are surrounded by temptations to sin. The greatest witness we can give, obviously, is to be a saint. To "cease doing evil" and to "learn to do good."
Each of us have a unique opportunity to become saints. Lent is a great time to purify yourselves so that we may become saints. The readings during Lent help us look inward at the sins that consume us, and it also reminds us that for sanctification, we must look upward to Our Lord from Whom "all things are possible."
If you haven't already, let's work on "kickin' it into high gear" so that we can all choose to be saints versus choosing "the sword". Take care and God Bless.
