Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who struggle with depression.

Do you believe that we have something entrusted to us that is greater than Solomon's wisdom? Do you believe that we have something entrusted to us that is greater than our own sins, insecurities and fears? Do we say "let is be done unto me" when hardship falls on us?

There is something greater than Jonah here when we stand before the Blessed Sacrament or read the Holy Scriptures. There is a Love that heals and wants to restore us. During Lent, we await the day when we can celebrate the sign of Jonah Christ refers to in today's reading. Just like He laid down His life so that we may live, so to must we lay down our lives for The One who is greater than Jonah and Solomon. Take care and God Bless.
