John 11: 19-27
Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother [Lazarus, who had died]. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise." Martha said to him, "I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day." Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and anyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are recovering from surgery.
"I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you ...
You are the Christ, the Son of God ..."
How often do we meditate and rest on the fact that God can do anything that our limited minds can think of? How often to we rejoice in this fact that God can do anything?
It's hard to rejoice in this. I look at the areas of my life that seem to bear no fruit ... the areas of my life where I fall short ... the areas of my life that seem impossible ... and I forget that it is God Who has dominion over all things, not me.
It is God Who has the power to do things beyond my understanding. It is God Who has dominion over all things. It is God Who is ...
God, You can do all things,
even allowing me to make mistakes
and allowing me to be wronged against.
... How often do we trust in a God that can do anything? How often do we trust in a God Who could set fire to all of the abortion clinics around the world? How often do we trust in a God Who could change the hearts of all those who persecute Christians around the world? How often do we trust in a God Who could take away every inclination we have to sin?
There was a lot of good that came out of Martha's faith, and there is a lot of good that can come out of our faith in Jesus, Who is the Resurrection and the Life.
I don't know what you are going through now, but I know that I can pray for you and trust that God, Who has dominion over all things, will answer our prayers according to His great love for you. Take care and God Bless.
