Hebrews 11:32-40

Brothers and sisters: What more shall I say? I have not time to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, did what was righteous, obtained the promises; they closed the mouths of lions, put out raging fires, escaped the devouring sword; out of weakness they were made powerful, became strong in battle, and turned back foreign invaders. Women received back their dead through resurrection. Some were tortured and would not accept deliverance, in order to obtain a better resurrection. Others endured mockery, scourging, even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, sawed in two, put to death at sword's point; they went about in skins of sheep or goats, needy, afflicted, tormented. The world was not worthy of them. They wandered about in deserts and on mountains, in caves and in crevices in the earth.

Yet all these, though approved because of their faith, did not receive what had been promised. God had foreseen something better for us, so that without us they should not be made perfect.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an increase in understanding in each of our lives.

When I was a kid, I remember stealing the Bible from a relative's house because I thought that there was "magical powers" found within The Bible. It was a mystical book to me that held within it a power that would make me a better person.

All these years later, I was right. There truly is great power, but the words of the Bible mean nothing if faith is not there. What's more, the humble are the ones who can truly see the power of faith. The secret powers of faith and humility are greater than intellect we can possess, because it's true wisdom. The secret powers of faith and humility are greater than the amount of weight we can lift, because TRUE faith in Our Lord moves mountains.

We stand on this side of Salvation History. We know God's plan for salvation and how it would come through A Spotless Lamb dying upon a cross. We have been blessed with a great gift, and through the gift Christ makes of Himself, we have a very REAL example of HUMILITY and FAITH.

Through faith and humility, we can see our weakness and see our weakness as a means to grow in faith and a reason to be humble. In our weakness, we see our true need for Our Lord, and that is a power greater than any we can possess ourselves... It is the power of Christ, to whom the Angels sing praise to and whom commands the demons to flee. Let faith and humility be at the forefront of your hearts today as we strive to love and avoid sin. Take care and God Bless.
